horticultural therapy

“Many of us have a friend or relative whose company we appreciate or find congenial, who then responds with unexpected aid or depth of compassion in a crisis.  Gardens are like that: comfortable companions whose capacities lie dormant, awaiting a crisis to release their potential.” Kenneth Helphand,  “Defiant Gardens: Making Gardens in Wartime”

“What can we build instead?” -Mariame Kaba
